Results Of the Ultrasound Were Encouraging!

We wanted to get a praise report out to you since it’s been a while since we gave you an update on Judah!

Ultrasound Review

Earlier this month an ultrasound of his neck was done and last week we reviewed the results with the primary doctor. The results of the ultrasound were very positive. The lymph nodes they’ve been watching for a few months appear to be benign. Yay!

Residual Tissue

There is one bit of tissue about 7mm x 6mm that they believe may be leftover thyroid tissue that didn’t come out in the thyroidectomy. This tissue hasn’t grown at all, but from the scan they think it looks suspicious enough that they are considering taking it out with a comparatively simple surgery before the holidays. The doctor has said that this kind of clean up routine is typical in cancer cases like this.

Upcoming Procedure

Before they commit to this surgery, though, they want to do a “fine needle aspiration,” whereby they simply numb some skin, insert a needle, and draw out some cells for analysis, both from the aforementioned tissue as well as from some of the lymph nodes that appear to be benign. The procedure will occur this Thursday, November 5th. They will do a CT scan at 11 am to be sure everything else looks good, especially in his lungs. The fine needle aspiration will happen at 12:30 pm. It’s an outpatient procedure, so we’ll be on the way home by the afternoon – yay!

Praise Report

Of the many 100’s of similar cases seen by this endocrinologist, Judah is definitely in the doing-extremely-well camp. We are praising God for this!
