Successful Surgery and a COOL Testimony!

An Update for Friends and Family

Surgery Update

Howdy friends,

Thank you so much for surrounding us with your love and prayers last Wednesday! We left the house at 4:15 am and checked in at 6 am. After a scope procedure to check Judah’s vocal chords, surgery started around 8:30 am. There were two parts to the surgery. The first was to remove some tissue in the front of his neck and the second part was to remove some lymph nodes on the side of his neck.

Amazing Testimony

We want to share a very cool testimony with you!

During the week prior to surgery, a dear friend and intercessor sent me the following:

“I couldn’t sleep last night and was praying for Judah. I was picturing Jesus hovering over the surgeon’s shoulder pointing out small pieces of tissue that should be removed and then at one point He actually had His hands in the sterile field and was gently maneuvering things in Judah’s neck so that the surgeon could reach and see what he needed to see.”

Surgery Timeline

Well, around 12:30 pm, after the first part of the surgery was done, the surgeon came to update us after his part. He said that he had begun the surgery with a bit of “trepidation.” He had been concerned that as he was about to go into the thyroid bed, he would encounter scar tissue and fatty tissue that would make it difficult for him to find his way to the spots he needed to remove. He then went on to say that he had been pleasantly surprised by how easy it was and that he had no trouble at all finding his way through the tissues and removing the two spots and some lymph nodes. What a cool testimony of how prayer paved the way for a successful surgery and excellent outcome, just as our friend saw in the spirit as she was praying!

During the second half of the surgery, the ENT surgeon worked on the side of Judah’s neck to remove some lymph nodes.

They finished up around 4:30 pm and we got to see Judah around 5:30 pm as he was slowly waking up in recovery.

In all, the surgeons each removed 20-30 lymph nodes and took their time to make sure they were getting all they could.

We were not anticipating another 8-hour surgery, but are certainly grateful they took the time they felt they needed.

After an overnight in the hospital to monitor him, we were discharged the next day around 7:30 pm.

What a blessing for Judah to come on home to his own bed. It was a relatively peaceful night.

Judah’s Strength

Judah was at peace the entire time and was such a pleasure to be with. He never complained, even after the surgery during the uncomfortable recovery process – and he had a lot he could have complained about! Instead, he constantly said ‘thank you’ to me and all the nurses and doctors he came in contact with. What a warrior!

The other 3 kids were at home, being their usual amazing and responsible selves, handling life and household in an awesome way! They really appreciated the meals that friends brought for them. Thank you so much!

Prayer for Judah:

– Quick and thorough healing of the two incision sites.

– Quick recovery from the numbness and soreness on the left side of his face and neck, which the surgeon said is “normal.”

– That cancer has met its final defeat in Judah’s body making this the LAST round of surgery and treatment.

Thank you again for all you prayers, meals, emails, and texts from near and far!

We feel very supported and blessed to be loved so much by y’all!
